On the entire site, this is easily the piece of content that was most time consuming to produce. First I had to walk through Zurich for hours to take all the photos. Then I had to resize every image as out of camera they are much larger than internet can handle at this point in time (December 2021). Also I had to research some of the information given with each photo. There are still some omissions: Schauspielhaus (Pfauen), Main Train Station, Uetliberg and Höngerberg.

My camera performed much better than I had ever dreamed. It takes photos that appear to be better than real life. All the pictures of the Limmatquai were shoot in dusk. I have no idea about exposure, ISO and so on, all these pictures are 100 % point and shoot. Some may seem horizontally inclined, a problem easily solved by activating the artificial horizon in the camera. Even with the newest smartphones, you could never take such detailed photos.

Yes, the Leica Q2 is somehow steep in price (not sponsored, bought with my own money) however the results you get are incredible. To produce such nice images with a Sony, Nikon or Cannon camera, you would easily spend even more but would be left with a chunky and heavy setup. I don’t care about all the things you can change or about the 800 mm zoom lens.

Zurich until today has a visible colonial past. If you understand German language, I highly recommend to visit the website “ZH-Kolonial“.
